The proposed Willatook Wind Farm is located between Hawkesdale and Orford in south-west Victoria and would comprise up to 59 wind turbines.
The area has an excellent wind resource and the project is located adjacent to the existing Tarrone Terminal Station. A 200MW/400MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) is proposed to be included as part of this project. An Environment Effects Statement was completed in early 2022.
Following a planning panel inquiry, the Minister for Planning released her assessment in late 2023. This recommended approval provided several design changes which were incorporated.
